BioI keep this not-quite-daily sketch diary for a few reasons:
1) It helps prevent the minutae of the days from blurring into forgetfulness
2) it reminds me of where I've been..mentally as well as physically
3) it makes my family laugh, and some of my friends, or so I'm told
4) it allows others I don't see enough to have a different kind of long-distance interaction with me
5) constancy: it feels good to keep at something that's not for work or survival
6) though I rarely spend more than a few minutes on a sketch, it's very very slowly improving my drawing. very slowly.
